Watercolour Floral Art

Watercolour Floral Art

People often ask me why I am so devoted to watercolour as a medium. I know other artists paint beautiful floral oil paintings which I often admire but my patience just doesn't last long enough for the oils to dry! Floral watercolour art captures the delicate beauty and vivid colours of flowers beautifully using soft, flowing brushstrokes and transparent layers building up vibrancy. This style blends vibrant petals with gentle, organic lines, making the subject look life like and giving a sense of movement and natural harmony. I try to make my flowers more impressionistic but often lean towards a realistic look. I do much admire Japanese vintage prints and am quite often using them in reference and I love the way the colours in watercolour bleed gracefully into one another to suggest the texture and subtle details of flower petals, leaves, and stems.

I love to share inspiration and am always excited to see other peoples so feel free to ping me a message with some beautiful flower photos or art!
