Floral Art or Botanical Art?
Share
Floral art is a huge subject that is inspired by the beauty and diversity of flowers and plants developing art from natural subjects in creative and expressive ways. Unlike botanical illustration, which has a focus on scientific accuracy and can be used for studying botany amongst other specialisms, floral art often concentrates on the aesthetics, mood, and feeling, drawing on colour, texture, and composition to evoke a certain emotion. This can be rendered in different mediums such as painting, photography, sculpture, and digital art.
The flowers can be depicted realistically or in an abstract way, floral artists experiment with elements like vibrant or muted color palettes, layered textures, and dynamic compositions to create works that celebrate nature's beauty in both traditional and contemporary styles.
